About ME

The Compassionate Dissenter, 1994; Madwommon-1996; Amazon, 2013; Activist/Advocate/Policy Writer, 1972-present; Warrior by heritage and birth!

Raised in Florida till age 9, by then-hippie Momma.  Moved to Eastern Ky, where we were devoutly religious in the Christian faith and where I grew angry and restless over things like racism and sexism, before having the words to express this discontent. Boredom and oppression led me to run away, get married at age 13, experience domestic violence and extreme poverty, then return home and to school at age 16.  GED in hand, I married and started college in 1994, and in 1988 and 1994; A red-headed boy and black-headed girl were my Opus (they would go on to be advocates and activists).  Graduated with Honors, Magna cum Laude from Western KY University in 1999.  Wrote prolifically for several decades, then returned for my Master's of Arts in Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University, which was cut short by a recurrence of colon cancer.  I currently write, mostly for business and advocacy, under Izzy's Ink and work pt as a Social Worker/Counselor.  My interests are far too vast to list here, but know this--I will consider any and all writing projects!
